中国专有名词的英文表达方式
大家都知道，中国的英语是China，,但是在联合国大会上中国代表的座位前面的牌子上写的却是C-h-i-荏鱿胫协n-e，a变成了e。这到底是为什么呢？是不是写错了呢?其实没有写错，它只不过继承了法语的拼写方式，因为英文的China来自于法语Chine，也就是C-h-i-n-e，而Chine是“秦”的音译。因为历史上的秦人当时与西方人有比较密切的贸易往来，所以西方人就把中国叫作“秦”，于是有了法语的Chine，最终有了英语的China。有些地方说中国之所以叫China是因为中国的瓷器很出名，而瓷器在英语里叫China，所以中国就叫China，这种说法是缺乏根据的。
茶来自于我们中国，英语叫tea。为什么茶叫tea呢？据说tea来自于闽南语。福建盛产茶叶，铁观音这种茶叶非常著名。欧洲人来到福建就经常喝铁观音，由于用闽南语说铁观音的时候，把铁说成tea，而且比观音两个字响亮，所以欧洲人从此就把铁观音说成了tea，后来tea就变成了茶叶的统称了。
